Color Change Technique

This pattern uses a color change technique, that creates a finished single crochet with the top of the stitch being a different color then the rest.

Step 1 – After slip stitching to join the previous row, chain 1 using the new color.

Step 2 – insert hook into previous row to begin first sc, yarn over with same color as previous row and pull through.

Step 3 – Yarn over with the new color and pull through both loops on hook.

You will see that the bottom of the stitch is one color and the top is another.

Here is an example of how the stitch works and also a picture demonstrating the difference in how the stitches look using this technique versus not using it.

Shirt Collar

Make 25 foundationless single crochets, tie off and attach loosely around his neck to create the shirt collar.

Attaching Legs and Arms

Fill with polyfill, attach the arms between rounds 15 and 16 to the sides, slightly towards his front side.

Fill with polyfill, attach the legs between rounds 20 and 22 with 3sc stitches between the legs.

Facial Embroidery

Between round 7 and 9 create two eyes by looping the black thread vertically between the rows.

To create the nose, loop the thread around 1 and a half stitches in Round 10.

For the eyebrows, and mouth you will need to do a little  “eyeballing”, the eyebrows are placed between rounds 5 and 6 and are simply made by putting the needle through the back of the head and coming out the front in round 6, straight down from the outer edge of the ear, and going back through the head from a stitch 1sc over and one round up(round 5).

Enjoy!!!
