Heart Stitch | A special color change stitch that gives the appearance of a “V” or “heart” shape. |
How to: With one color on the hook, insert hook into the center of the next stitch space, yarn over with the alternate color and pull up a loop. With the original color, yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook. The stitch will now have the V in one color, the the top front and back loops remain the same as the first color.

Hat Pattern Sizing
Hat Dimensions: 23 cm long(crown to brim) with a 26 cm diameter when laid flat. (circumference = 81 cm)
The starting round of foundation single crochets, is worked in multiples of 4, if you need to adjust size, decrease or increase in a multiple of 4 to reach desired size.
If you do adjust size, be sure to decrease in multiples of 6 to close the hat. Since this hat is made with the knit stitch, the shape looks best when the decrease rows are done to a multiple of 6. For example, This hat is decreased from 56 stitches to 54 stitches in order to do this. (6 * 9 = 54)
Please be aware when sizing, this hat is worked with centered single crochet(knit stitch) so it is less stretchy.
If you want the hat to be longer you can add a few “plain” rounds by repeating Round 27, to add length.

Use the Amigurumi Closing Method by Louise’s Loops to close the last round of your hat.
Sew in the beginning tail on Round 1 so that it connects the first and last FSC of that round and weave in the end,
