- 2.5mm crochet hook.
- I love this Cotton! Yarn in Red.
- I love this Cotton! Yarn in Bright Green
- Polyfil
- Brown Chenille Stems “pipe cleaner”
- Yarn Needle
- Beaded Keychain Clasp
Stitches Used
- CH – Chain Stitch
- SLST – Slip Stitch
- SC – Single Crochet
- HDC – Half-Double Crochet
- SCINC – Single Crochet Increase
- SCTOG – Single Crochet Together (decrease)
Preparing the Stem
Cut 3 inches of brown pipe cleaner, fold in half and twist together starting AT THE FOLD to the halfway point. Leave the ends untwisted. Bend the ends straight out in opposite directions, then bend the tip of the ends down. See Picture.
Leaf
Using Bright Green Yarn
Row 1: Ch 5, sl st into 2nd Ch from hook, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1sc. (4 Stitches)
Fasten off leaving an end for sewing, and set aside.
Apple
Using Red Yarn
Round 1: Create a magic circle, work 6 sc into magic circle, join (6 Stitches)
Round 2: Ch 1, 6 scinc, no join. (12 Stitches)
Round 3: 12 sc. (12 Stitches)
Round 4: *3 sc, 1 scinc* repeat * twice. (15 Stitches)
Round 5: 15 sc. (15 Stitches)
Round 6: *4 sc, 1 scinc* repeat * twice. (18 Stitches)
Round 7: 18 sc (18 Stitches)
Round 8: * 1 sctog, 1 sc* repeat * x5. (12 Stitches)
Stuff your apple and add the stem, also add your key chain by inserting the chain through one stitch, and then out a stitch on the opposite side, on the row just completed.
Round 9: 6 sctog. (6 Stitches
Fasten off, and sew tightly shut. Sew the Leaf onto the top of your apple, next to the stem.
