Badtz-Maru – Amigurumi Pattern

Materials

Stitches Used

  • CH – Chain Stitch
  • SLST – Slip Stitch
  • SC – Single Crochet
  • DC – Double Crochet
  • SCINC – Single Crochet Increase
  • SCTOG – SIngle Crochet Together (decrease)
  • BLO – Back Loop Only

Head

Using Black Yarn

Round 1 – Create a magic ring, *2sc, 1dc* repeat once, slst to join to first sc. (6 stitches)

Round 2 – Ch1, *2sc, 2scinc in same st* repeat once, slst to join to first sc. (12 stitches)

Round 3 – Ch1, *2sc, 4scinc* repeat once, slst to join to first sc. (20 stitches)

Round 4 – Ch1, 3sc, *1scinc, 1sc* repeat x4, 2sc, *1scinc,1sc* repeat x3, 1scinc, slst to join to first sc. (28 stitches)

Round 5 – Ch1, 4sc, *1scinc, 2sc* repeat x2, 1scinc, 1sc, 1scinc, 7sc, *1scinc, 2sc* repeat x2, 1scinc, 1sc, slst to join to first sc. (31 stitches)

Round 6 – Ch1, 5sc, *1scinc, 1sc* repeat x6, 4sc, *1scinc,1sc* repeat x7, slst to join to first sc. ( 48 stitches)

Round 7-15 – Ch1, 48sc, slst to join to first sc. (48 stitches)

Round 16 – Ch1, 5sc, *1sctog, 1sc* repeat x6, 4sc, *1sctog,1sc* repeat x7, slst to join to first sc. ( 31 stitches)

Round 17 – Ch1, 4sc, *1sctog, 2sc* repeat x2, 1sctog, 1sc, 1sctog, 7sc, *1sctog, 2sc* repeat x2, 1sctog, 1sc, slst to join to first sc. (28 stitches)

Round 18 – Ch1, 3sc, *1sctog, 1sc* repeat x4, 2sc, *1sctog,1sc* repeat x3, 1sctog, slst to join to first sc. (20 stitches)

Round 19 – Ch1, *2sc, 4sctog* repeat once, slst to join to first sc. (12 stitches)

Stuff  loosely with polyfill. Do not Overstuff.

Round 20 – Ch1, *2sc, 2sctog * repeat once, slst to join to first sc. (8 stitches)

Ch1 and cut yarn leaving a few inches to close the opening and weave in end. Lightly Fill with Polyfil and sew shut.

Head Spikes – Make x4

Using Black Yarn

Round 1 – Create a magic ring, work 6sc, slst to join to first sc. (6 stitches)

Round 2 – Ch1, *1scinc, 2sc* repeat once, Slst to join to first sc. (8 stitches)

Round 3 – Ch1, 8 sc, slst to join to first sc. (8 stitches)

Round 4 – Ch1, *1scinc, 3sc* repeat once, slst to join to first sc. (10 stitches)

Round 5 – Ch1, 10 sc, slst to join to first sc. (10 stitches)

Round 6 – Ch1, *1scinc, 4sc* repeat once, slst to join to first sc (12 stitches)

Ch1, fasten off, leave enough of a tail to sew with, Lightly Stuff with Polyfil.

Beak

Using Bright Yellow Yarn

Round 1 – Create a magic ring, work 6sc, slst to join to first sc. (6 stitches)

Round 2 – Ch1, *1scinc, 2sc* repeat once, Slst to join to first sc. (8 stitches)

Round 3 – Ch1, *1scinc, 3sc* repeat once, slst to join to first sc. (10 stitches)

Round 4 – Ch1, *1scinc, 4sc* repeat once, slst to join to first sc (12 stitches)

Ch1, fasten off, leave enough of a tail to sew with, Lightly Stuff with Polyfil.

Foot 1

Using Yellow and Black Yarn

Round 1 – Create a magic ring using yellow , work 6sc, slst to join to first sc. (6 stitches)

Round 2 – Ch1, 6scinc, slst to join to first sc.  (12 stitches)

Round 3 – Ch1, *1sc, 1scinc* repeat x6, slst to join to first sc. (18 stitches)

Round 4 – Ch1, turn, working in flo *2sc,1scinc* repeat x3, 9 slst in flo, slst to join to back loop of first stitch. (21 stitches)

*During next row, do the last pull through of each st with black, the rest should use yellow.*

Round 5 – turn, Ch1 with black,9sc into slip stitches of previous row, 9sc into blo of previous row, slst to join to first sc. (18 stitches)

Round 6-7 – Ch1, 18 sc, slst to join to first sc. (18 stitches)

Ch1, fasten off leaving enough to sew small opening closed between legs.

Foot 2

Using Yellow and Black Yarn

Round 1 – Create a magic ring using yellow , work 6sc, slst to join to first sc. (6 stitches)

Round 2 – Ch1, 6scinc, slst to join to first sc.  (12 stitches)

Round 3 – Ch1, *1sc, 1scinc* repeat x6, slst to join to first sc. (18 stitches)

Round 4 – Ch1, turn, 9 slst in flo, working in flo *2sc,1scinc* repeat x3, slst to join to back loop of first stitch. (21 stitches)

*During next row, do the last pull through of each st with black, the rest should use yellow.*

Round 5 – turn, Ch1 with black, 9sc into blo of previous row, 9sc into slip stitches of previous row, slst to join to first sc. (18 stitches)

Round 6-7 – Ch1, 18 sc, slst to join to first sc. (18 stitches)

Round 8 – Ch1, 18sc, sc into the first st of “Foot 1”, 17sc, slst to join to first sc of “Foot 2”  (36 stitches)

Arms – Make x2

Using Black Yarn

Round 1 – Create a magic ring, work 6sc, slst to join to first sc. (6 stitches)

Round 2 – Ch1, *1scinc, 1sc* repeat x3, slst to join to first sc. (9 stitches)

Round 3-7 – Ch1, 9sc, slst to join to first sc. (9 stitches)

Ch1, cut yarn leaving a few inches to sew with and pull yarn through the chain to fasten off. Stuff with Polyfil.

Continue Body

Using Black Yarn

Round 8-10 – Ch1, 36sc, slst to join to first sc. (36 stitches)

Round 11 – Ch1, *4sc, 1sctog* repeat x6, slst to join to first sc. (30 stitches)

Round 12-13 – Ch1, 30sc, slst to join to first sc. (30 stitches)

Round 14 – Ch1, *3sc, 1sctog* repeat x6, slst to join to first sc. (24 stitches)

Round 15-16 – Ch1, 24sc, slst to join to first sc. (24 stitches)

Round 17 – Ch1, *2sc, 1sctog* repeat x6, slst to join to first sc. (18 stitches)

Ch1, cut yarn leaving at least 8 inches to sew with and pull yarn through the chain to fasten off. Stuff with Polyfil, Do not overstuff.

Assemble Chococat Doll

  • Attach the Head Spikes to the top of head (Round 1 of head being the top of head)
  • Attach the Beak to the Head about 6 rows up from the neck.
  • Attach the head to the body by using the tail end left over from the body and attaching to the head around the 17th round. This will give you the most support.
  • Attach the Arms to the body between the 15th and 17th round.

Eyes – Make x2

Using White Yarn

Row 1 – Ch4, sc into second chain from hook, 1 sc, 4sc in same turning to work down other side, 2sc. (8 stitches)

Row 2 – Ch1, turn, 2sc, 1scinc, 2sc, 1scinc, 2sc. (10 stitches)

Row 3 – Ch1, turn, 2sc, 1scinc, 4sc, 1scinc, 2sc. (12 stitches)

Row 4 – Ch1, turn, 3sc, 1scinc, 4sc, 1scinc, 3sc. (14 stitches)

Ch1, fasten off leaving a tail to sew with.

Sew the eyes close to beak, about a stitch width away.

Belly

Using White Yarn

Row 1 – Ch7, sc into second chain from hook, 4 sc, 4sc in same st turning to work down other side, 5sc. (14 stitches)

Row 2 – Ch1, turn, 3 sc, 1scinc, 6sc, 1scinc,3sc. (16 stitches)

Row 3 – Ch1, turn, 3sc, 1scinc, 3sc, 1scinc, 3sc, 1scinc, 3sc. (18 stitches)

Row 4 – Ch1, turn, 3dc, 3hdc, 1scinc, 4sc, 1scinc, 3hdc, 3dc, ch1, do not turn work along the bottom edge of piece, 2sc in side of dc, 1hdc, 3dc, 1hdc, 2sc in side of dc.

Ch1, fasten off leaving a tail to sew with.

Sew the Belly to the bottom so that it slightly comes down the feet .
