Color Change Technique

This pattern uses a color change technique, that creates a finished single crochet with the top of the stitch being a different color then the rest.

Step 1 – After slip stitching to join the previous row, chain 1 using the new color.

Step 2 – insert hook into previous row to begin first sc, yarn over with same color as previous row and pull through.

Step 3 – Yarn over with the new color and pull through both loops on hook.

You will see that the bottom of the stitch is one color and the top is another.

Here is an example of how the stitch works and also a picture demonstrating the difference in how the stitches look using this technique versus not using it.

Facial Embroidery

Between round 6 and 8 create two eyes by looping the black thread vertically between the rounds, with 4 sc between them

To create the nose, loop the thread around 1 and a half stitches in Round 9, centering it between the eyes.

For the mouth, make a small loose line with embroidery thread in the round below the nose roughly the same width as the nose.

The detail on the pants can be made the same as the eyes; between rounds 17 and 19.

Enjoy!!!!!
