Part 1
Yarn color: Begin with Red, have white on standby
Hook Size: 5.5
- DO NOT COUNT THE STARTING CHAINS AS A STITCH
Round 1: | Create a Magic Circle, Ch 2, 10 DC, join. | (10 stitches) |
Round 2: | Ch 2, 10 dcinc, join. | (20 stitches) |
Round 3: | Ch 2. *1 dcinc, 1 dc* repeat * to * x10, join. | (30 stitches) |

Round 5: | Ch 2, *1 dcinc, 3 dc* repeat * to * x10, join. | (50 stitches) |
At this point the Diameter of your piece should be 16 cm across. (a little over 6 inches)
Switch to WHITE yarn by pulling up a loop of WHITE through the RED loop on your hook, then pull the RED yarn super tight. Do the first stitch ONLY over the red yarn; then drop the red yarn as you continue, this will lock the yarn in place for when we switch back next round.
Round 6: | Ch 2, *2 dc, 1 dcinc, 2 dc* repeat * to * x10, join. | (60 stitches) |
Switch to RED yarn by pulling up a loop of RED through the WHITE loop on your hook, then pull the WHITE yarn super tight. Cut the WHITE yarn so that it has a 3-4 inch tail. Work over the tail in Round 7 to secure it in place.
Round 7: | Ch 2, *1 dcinc, 5 dc* repeat * to * x10, join. | (70 stitches) |
Round 8: | Ch 2, *3 dc, 1 dcinc, 3 dc* repeat * to * x10, join. | (80 stitches) |

Round 13: | Ch 2, *1 dc2tog, 5 dc* repeat * to * x10, join. | (60 stitches) |
Round 14: | Ch 1, 60 sc, join. | (60 stitches) |
Round 15: | Ch 1, sk 1 st, 59 LOOSE sl st, fasten off leaving a tail for sewing. | (59 stitches) |
Sew in your ends once satisfied.
Part 2
Yarn Color: White
Hook Size: 4.5mm
(Reminder, that you can use a 5.5 for this part, but I suggest crocheting with a tighter tension)
Row 1: | Ch 38, dc in 3rd chain from hook, 35 DC, Ch 2, sl st into same space as last dc. | (36 stitches) |
Cut the end tail leaving a VERY long tail, roughly 18 inches), for sewing.
Lay part 2 across the top of the hat so that the middle of Part 2 crosses over Round 1 of Part 1 and the ends reach to Round 8 of Part 1. (See Picture) Pin Part 2 in place on Part 1, using a sewing/yarn needle, use the whip stitch to sew in place.
Part 3
Using a Pom Pom maker(or wrapping the yarn around your hand) Create a medium(2.5 inch) Pom Pom out of WHITE yarn, attach to the center of the top of the hat.
