Sobble Amigurumi Pattern

Materials

Yarn:

Tools:

  • 3.25mm Crochet Hook (a 3.00mm or 3.5mm could be used depending on your tension)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

  • 1 Chenille Stick – for supporting head piece
  • Black crochet thread or black felt for nostrils.

Stuff firmly. Align the running stitch marker on the body with the running stitch marker on the head, pin in place. Use the Amigurumi Piece Join Method to sew the pieces together.

Arms

Make x2

Use Medium Blue (Dolphin Blue) for both parts.

Part 1

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 6 sc, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2:6 sc blo.(6 stitches)
Round 3-4:6 sc(6 stitches)

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Part 2

Round 1:Attach Yarn to first front loop of Part 1 Round 1, 6 sc FLO, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2:1 sc, 1 sc2tog, 1 sc, 1 scinc, 1 sc..(6 stitches)
Round 3-4:6 sc.(6 stitches)

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Stuff both part 1 and part 2 lightly so that the place where the two parts join acts as an elbow.

Hands

Make x2

Using Medium Blue (Dolphin Blue)

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 4 sc, no join. (4 stitches)
Round 2-7:4 sc.(4 stitches)

Do not Stuff, Use the Amigurumi Close Method and fasten off, weave in ends.

Using the yarn tail from Arm Part 2, sew the hand on to the arm from the center of the hand.

Set aside the finished arms.

Back Legs

Make x2

Using Medium Blue (Dolphin Blue) for both parts.

Part 1

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 8 sc, no join. (8 stitches)
Round 2:8 sc blo.(8 stitches)
Round 3-4:8 sc(8 stitches)

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Part 2

Round 1:Attach Yarn to first front loop of Part 1 Round 1, 8 sc FLO, no join. (8 stitches)
Round 2:1 sc, 1 sc2tog, 3 sc, 1 scinc, 1 sc.(8 stitches)
Round 3-5:8 sc.(8 stitches)

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Stuff both part 1 and part 2 lightly so that the place where the two parts join acts as a knee.

Feet

Make x2

Using Medium Blue (Dolphin Blue)

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 6 sc, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2-8:6 sc.(6 stitches)

Do not Stuff, Use the Amigurumi Close Method and fasten off, weave in ends.

Using the yarn tail from leg Part 2, sew the foot on to the leg from the center of the foot.

Set aside the finished legs

Headpiece

Use yellow yarn (Buttercup Yellow) for both pieces

Part 1

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 6 sc, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2:6 scinc(12 stitches)
Round 3:*1 scinc, 1 sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. (18 stitches)
Round 4-8:18 sc.18 stitches)

Tie off and set aside, do not stuff.

Part 2

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 6 sc, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2:6 scinc(12 stitches)
Round 3-6:12 sc.(12 stitches)
Round 7:1 sc in LAST stitch of Round 8 of Part 1, 14 sc, 1 sc in FOURTH st of Round 6 of Part 2, 8 sc, no join.(24 stitches)
Round 8:*3 sc, 1 sc2tog, 3 sc* repeat * to * 2 more times.(21 stitches)
Round 9:*1 sc2tog, 5 sc* repeat * to * 2 more times.(18 stitches)

Tie off, leaving a tail for sewing, and lay piece flat. Set aside.

Note: there will be a small gap between the two parts, it is not noticeable when put together, but you can sew it shut with a quick whip stitch if it bothers you.

Head Piece Detail

Using Dark Blue (Royal Blue) yarn.

Row 1:Ch 19, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 17 sc.(18 stitches)

Tie off, leaving a long tail for sewing along the front of the head piece (See Picture). Use the chenille stick(pipe cleaner) to help support the head piece, insert it into the tallest part of the completed head piece and anchor it into the head.  Sew the completed head piece to the top of the head; so that the head detailing is above the face side and is above the magic circle.

Tail

Part 1

Using Dark Blue (Royal Blue) Yarn.

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 6 sc, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2:6 scinc(12 stitches)
Round 3:*1 scinc, 1 sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. (18 stitches)

If using yarn weight thicker than DK(or if you have loose tension) I suggest only decreasing Part 1 & 2 to 18 stitches. This will help the tail to fully wrap.

Round 4:*1 sc, 1 scinc, 1 sc* repeat * to * 5 more times.(24 stitches)

Tie off and set aside.

Part 2

Using Dark Blue (Royal Blue) yarn.

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 6 sc, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2:6 scinc(12 stitches)
Round 3:*1 scinc, 1 sc* repeat * to * 5 more times. (18 stitches)

If using yarn weight thicker than DK(or if you have loose tension) I suggest only decreasing Part 1 & 2 to 18 stitches. This will help the tail to fully wrap. If you choose to do this, skip Round 4, and do Rounds 5-8 with only 18 stitches.

Round 4:*1 sc, 1 scinc, 1 sc* repeat * to * 5 more times.(24 stitches)
Round 5:Ch 1, 24 sc blo, join.(24 stitches)
Round 6-8:Ch 1, 24 sc, join.(24 stitches)

Tie off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew Part 1 to Part 2, using the mattress stitch, stuff before closing.

Part 3

Attach Medium Blue (Dolphin Blue) yarn to the join in Round 5 on the side of Part 2.

Row 1:1 sc into the side of rounds 5-8 of Part 2 where the round joins.(4 stitches)
Row 2-3:Ch 1, turn, 4 sc.(4 stitches)

From this point forwards we will be working in the round.

Round 1:Ch 1, turn, 4 sc flo, turn, 1 scinc in blo of Row 3, 2 sc blo, 1 scinc blo.(10 stitches)

Face/Stomach Overlay

Using Light Blue(Seafoam Blue) yarn for both parts.

Part 1

Row 1:Ch 4, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc, Ch 1, turn.(3 stitches)
Row 2:1 sc, 1 scinc, 1 sc, Ch 1, turn(4 stitches)
Row 3:2 sc, 1 scinc, 1 sc, Ch 1, turn.(5 stitches)
Row 4:5 sc, Ch 1, turn.(5 stitches)
Row 5:2 sc, 1 sc2tog, 1 sc, Ch 1, turn.(4 stitches)
Row 6:1 sc, 1 sc2tog, 1 sc.(3 stitches)

Tie off and set aside.

Part 2

Row 1:Ch 16, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 5 sc, 3 sc working over the working chain AND Row 6 of Part 1, 6 sc.(15 stitches)
Row 2:Ch 1, turn, 7 sc, 1 sc2og, 6 sc, Ch 1, turn.(14 stitches)
Row 3:6 sc, 1 sc2tog, 6 sc, Ch 1, turn.(13 stitches)

Single Crochet around the entire piece, ending with a picot on top of Row 15 before joining.

Sew the entire Overlay to the front of the body so that the picot above row 15 lines up with the head piece detailing on the head piece, with about 6 rounds between them.

Pin the arms and legs to the body until you are pleased with their placement. The legs should be attached on the sides of the body, and the arms should be positioned slightly towards the center of the belly from the legs, and a few rows above. Sew to body using the Amigurumi Piece Join Method.

Cheeks

Make x2

Using Dark Blue (Royal Blue) yarn.

Round 1:Create a Magic Circle, 6 sc, no join. (6 stitches)
Round 2:6 scinc, join. (12 stitches)

Tie off and sew to Sobble’s face at the widest part of the overlay.

Cut felt pieces according to the picture below.

  • 2 Large white ovals – 3.5cm x 2.25 cm
  • 2 Medium blue ovals – 2cm x 1 cm
  • 2 small white ovals – 0.5cm x 1 cm
  • 2 small white circles – diameter of 1cm
  • long deep red oval – 3.5cm x 1.25cm
  • medium red oval cut in half  – 1.75cm x 1.5cm (cut in half lengthwise for 1.75cm x .75cm)

Add 2 black French Knot as nostrils, or use felt.
