Materials
Yarn:
- Paintbox Cotton DK – in the color you want the heart to be
- Paintbox Cotton DK – Pillar Red (415)
Tools:
- 2.75mm Crochet Hook (a 3.00mm or 2.5mm could be used depending on your tension)
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Stitch Marker
- Sewing Pins
- Needle Felter (optional if you don’t want to embroider)
- Fiberfil

Special Techniques Used
Consider creating a Crochet Cord as an alternative to a starting chain. This makes it easier to work down both sides of the “chain”. If you choose to do this, you will do 10 Crochet Cord Links and then chain 1 as your starting chain, instead of the Chain 11.
Do not count CH 1 as a stitch.
Part 1

Fasten off leaving a tail to secure the end. Set aside. Mark the 17th stitch.

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing Part 1 and 2 together.
Rounds 4.5 and 6
- Place the tail end of Part 2 on a sewing needle, insert the needle into the next stitch.
- Insert the needle through the back side first, going through both loops of the marked stitch of Part 1.
- Pull the yarn through and insert the needle from the back side, through the sitch you first went through, pull tight.
Continue doing this, for each stitch around. Stuff the heart with fiber fill before closing the heart. Once you have finished, insert your needle into your work so that you come out of the top of the heart in round 4, go back through the piece in round 6 and pull tight to make the dip at the top of the heart more prominent. Secure and hide the end.
Lastly, using red yarn, embroider the saying you want onto your sweetheart!
